PM Says Tickets for SEA Games Must Be Free to Prevent Accidents

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has reaffirmed that tickets for the SEA Games will be free for everyone who wishes to attend, in order to facilitate visitors and avoid competition and other dangerous situations.

Speaking at the solidarity dinner with athletes on Monday evening, 3 April 2023, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the venues hosting the games are very large and selling tickets for the events could lead to competition between different ticket holders and their respective seats, which could potentially result in dangerous situations.

"[Competition between ticket holders could] reach the level of grabbing [and fighting over] seats, which is not good," he said.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that broadcasting rights will be granted for free because Cambodia needs the world to get to know this country.

"Our need right now is not to sell tickets or the broadcasting rights, but to let the world know about Cambodia," he said.
